WILSON BLX BLADE 98

The BLX Blade 98 updates the Kblade 98 with new technology and a new look. Using basalt, a natural volcanic rock, helps with vibration resistance for a more stable feel, according to Wilson. Suited in rich gold and black coloring, this new Blade 98 provides an extremely solid feel and nice pop.Weighing in at just over 11 ounces the BLX Blade 98 packs a lot of punch from the baseline while offering a forgiving touch. There is plenty of control to be had as well with its tight string pattern as our testers found while hitting groundstrokes. At net, the stability rings true, as this stick handles incoming passing attempts with minimal torsional twisting. A healthy sweetspot and solid feel add forgiveness when volleying. When serving, the control makes placement easier to come by while there's plenty of power on reserve when reaching back for the heater. This racquet offers a solid, forgiving feel from all areas of the court, making it an excellent choice for players at the 4.0+ level.

WILSON BLX TOUR 95

Not missing a beat when it comes to the heritage of Wilson's Tour line of racquets, the Tour BLX shines with versatility. Easy to swing with its sub 11 ounce static weight, it still offers plenty of pop with its near even rated balance. From the baseline, our TW playtesters enjoyed the easy depth and solid feel. The combination of an open string pattern and almost effortless generated swing speed, spin was easy to come by. At net, the Tour BLX provides plenty of punch with good directional control, and our testers also noted the surprising stability for such a light offering. Those that have enjoyed previous iterations of the Tour line will naturally like this latest version as well. This extremely versatile racquet is ideal for a wide range of levels from the 4.0 level and above. It is also easily customized for those seeking more heft.
Note:Due to the cushioning and comfort properties built into the Performance Hybrid Grip installed on this racquet, the handle feels a tad larger than normal.

WILSON BLX PRO OPEN 100

A 100 square inch head at 11 ounces strung makes the BLX Pro Open a forgiving, versatile racquet. The manageable weight and headlight balance makes swing speed easy to attain while the beam stiffness adds helps add stability and crispness. Our testers found this racquet to be easy to swing from the baseline, accessing good spin, placement and depth. At net, the mobile response and large sweetspot make putaway volleys a snap. It's versatility comes into play on serves as well, offering a nice blend of power and control. There's plenty of pop to send a flat serve up the "T", or throw some more spin on it to kick one out wide. The 11 ounce weight, though plenty maneuverable, still provides some good stability. All in all, this versatile 'tweener can be ideal for a variety of styles and levels.

WILSON BLX PRO STAFF SIX ONE 90

Roger Federer's racquet of choice. A staple of the Wilson line, the BLX version of the 90 is slightly faster and more playable than its predecessor. It's still a great racquet for the advanced player looking for the most control, feel, and touch. Strung weight: 12.6oz. Swingweight: 327 RDC.

PERFORMANCES

This is perhaps the most impressive 90 yet, and we've reviewed them all the way back to the Pro Staff Tour 90. With the new BLX Pro Staff Six.One 90 we found more maneuverable feel, even though the strung weight is still in the 12.6-ounce range. With a slightly lower swingweight, this racquet came through the contact zone with some added zip. We found excellent access to both topspin and slice, thanks to increased tip speed, with no sacrifice in stability. At net, this racquet received the highest praise from every tester. They all noted the excellent feel, and they felt the blend of maneuverability and stability was put to good use in both offensive and defensive situations. Our testers served with great consistency, speed and spin. The BLX Pro Staff Six.One 90 offered such an impressive response, on seemingly every stroke, that it was no surprise that two of our testers considered making the switch. Advanced players should definitely take this one for a demo. The BLX Pro Staff Six.One 90 might just be your next racquet switch, too.
